This collection contains awards, corn show records, correspondence, news articles, photographs, planting records, and record books. Much of the material is directly related to the Iowa state corn shows and yield contests, though other records document Allee's own corn planting and experimentation. . Most of the newspaper articles are about Allee's accomplishments within the associations of which he was president, many including congratulations for expanding the Corn Show. In addition, the collection also includes his record book which mainly contains information about different varieties of corn that won various contests.

George M. Allee (1877-1958) was born in Newell, Iowa, and received degrees from Cornell College and Harvard University. He was active in cattle-raising and corn experimentation. Allee was president of the Experimental Association of Ames, president of the Iowa Corn and Small Grain Growers Association, president of the Newell Corn Show for many years, and originator of the Allee Hybrid.
